Biography
Ken Strier is a dichotomy. In his youth, he was always creating things out of any material he could get his hands on – wood, paper, clay, rubber bands. He built sets for school plays, giant apple pies and pyramids for his fraternity. Yet, he excelled in science and math. After receiving a degree in Physics, he pursued a career in computer technology and spent time working in applications and systems programming and in computer networking and telecommunications. Towards the end of his career he managed the technology auditing and information security department of his company.
Art and science? Though working in the technology field, he often found time to explore his creative side with projects at home and set design and construction for community theater groups and for the productions his wife, Ellen, directed. After Ken retired, he allowed his creative side full range and became a sculptor.

For the last 13 years Ken has studied with various mentors and now creates sculptures in clay, stone and steel. Each medium has its own unique appeal to him. In the last year, he has again started doing Set Design, this time for Theatre West in Arizona. Even in his art you can find the dichotomy that is Ken Strier as his choice of subjects vary so, ranging from forms of precision to whimsical delights.
Ken is a member of TriCounty Artists of Long Island, LIPSS (Long Island Professional Sculptors and Supporters), the Huntington Arts Council, Suburban Art League and the Metal and Clay Clubs of Sun City West in Arizona. His work has received awards in many different venues and he has recently sold many of his spoon-art pieces at the Sun City West Craft Fair.
